About Oyster Mushroom Kit

Does the oyster need light to grow?Yes! Place your kit at any place in indirect natural sunlight, fluorescent, or incandescent light. Your do not need to keep your lights on at nights for the mushrooms.

How much water do I need to spray?Evenly spray the up-surface of the Shiitake rod until it is all wet but with no water drops. At least twice a day ( in the morning and evening) with the spray mister (included in your box). Too much water may cause contamination.

Does the shiitake mushrooms need oxygen to grow?Yes! A well-ventilated place with fresh air is necessary for shiitake mushrooms to grow. An open place like your kitchen counter is just perfect for you to place the kit.

When to harvest?The mushrooms should be ready to harvest in approximately 3-7 days after you see the first mushrooms begin to form when Caps still turn down and just start to flatten.

My shiitake rod has green mold, what should I do?Sometimes when you spray too much water or ventilation is not good, you will have green mold on your shiitake rod. Use a tooth brush and water to wash all the green mold away, and replace the box with a clean one (any size as long as you can put the rod inside). Place your rod in a well-ventilated place, do not spray too much water.
